Some PHP 217,000 per PC That Pork Barrel Bought

Inquirer.net’s Volt Contreras reports: More pork graft exposed - PCs at P217,500 each for Luzon IT projects

Of the seven IT projects monitored, six had PCs costing P217,500 each “even though their parts were unbranded” or could be had for much lower prices in the market.

What??? That’s just too much for a single PC! That’s about US$ 4,000 (USD 1 = PHP48.00 ). Wow! Pretty expensive machines for running MS Word and Excel don’t you think?

Today’s Interesting Stuff - Blogs / Podcast

TalkShoe

talkshoe

It’s the site that enables just about anyone to have a live talk show online for free!

TWiT.tv

twit

Remember TechTV, The Screen Saver and the guy named Leo Laporte? He runs most of the podcast on Twit.tv like This Week in Tech (TWiT), Security Now (with Steve Gibson), net@nite(with Amber McArthur) . I just love their shows. By the way, TWiT 91: All A-Twitter was the first live podcast of TWiT on TalkShoe.

CrankyGeeks.com

crankygeeksHosted by John C. Dvorak with all his crankiness but nevertheless he has some interesting guest like Natali Del Conte of TextTra. Natali by the way, for me, is the hottest geek on the planet :) Next would be Amber Mcarthur!

Worth mentioning are:

bandofbloggersThe Band of Bloggers hosted by Jayvee and Yuga. Guys if you’re reading this, read my lips(??). I’m looking forward for more episodes from you guys. I really enjoyed listening and was laughing my heart out on the “breakfast with Piolo” thing. Keep it up!

noypi

I also enjoy listening to Jozzua and his gang at noypi.com. They talk about just anything under the sun: politics, entainment, seo, jokes etc…

Update:  Ok, someone posted a comment named Nathalie Del Conte… could this be her???

Are spammers getting smarter everyday or are we just ignoring them in our mailbox?

I’ve been asking myself why am I getting a lot of spam in my Yahoo Mail account and a few spam in my Gmail account. I do not use these e-mails for filling web forms of some weird sites. I know,.. i’m sure! But why?

OpenMoko Is The Next BIG Thing

Neo1973 OpenMoko based phoneA group of developers all over the world are into something big that will soon be in your next phone. OpenMoko is an attempt to create an open/free software stack for mobile phones.

At the moment, there is an actual live phone (Neo1973) being used by developers to further the development of the OpenMoko Framework. Most of the user interface specifications supports stylus and finger based input. The phone functions just like the Apple iPhone but I would think that OpenMoko based phones will be very customizable as it is most likely to run on embedded Linux and QT.  Some more links for your reading pleasure..

All in all, their wiki page is very impormative and worth checking out.
