Dan Tynan of PC World reports on the Top 10 Worst PCs of All Time:
Misery, heartbreak, sorrow, and despair. No, I’m not talking about adolescence; I’m referring to what happens when you’re stuck with a PC from Hell. Systems that were overpriced and underpowered, parts that failed two days after the warranty expired, marathon phone calls with brain-dead tech support staff–over the years we’ve suffered more than our share of ills, and so have millions of other innocent PC users.
But picking these 10 Worst PCs of All Time wasn’t as easy as it sounds. First we had to set a few ground rules. Number one, we focused strictly on desktops. (We’ll leave the flaming/exploding laptops for another occasion.) Two, these machines had to have shipped to consumers–no vaporware or concept computers allowed.
So here are the Top 10 Worst PCs:
10. Dell Dimension 4600 (2003)
9. New Internet Computer (2000)
8. eMachines eTower 366c (1999)
7. Commodore VIC 20 (1981)
6. Texas Instruments TI-99/4 (1979)
5. IBM PS/1 (1990-1994)
4. Apple III (1980-1984)
3. Coleco Adam (1983)
2. Mattel Barbie PC (1999-2000)
1. Packard Bell PCs (1986-1996)

1. MooTools /MooFx can easily take-over Scriptaculous as a Javascript framework/Animation. The documentation is rich in content but it’s too technical that I can’t even find where the “getting started for dummies is”. I got to get my hands dirty on this one! It’s an improved Prototype.js!
2. Cisco has agreed to acquire Webex for $3.2 billion as published over at techcrunch.com. That’s a huge price tag that Cisco is willing to spend their money into considering the fact that web conferencing market is crowded these days! Add to the fact that there are a number of web 2.0 conferencing startup sprouting all over Silicon Valley scene to compete and bring innovation backed by big time venture capitalist. ( I will list them here when I find my super-secret-list! ). This is just a wow deal because as far as I can remember, the only deal that made me say “wow” was when Google bought Youtube for $1.6 Billion in stock (also here and here)
3. It’s weekend tomorrow! Okay, I know it’s non-sense but hey, I will finally have a time to blog more! Hopefully…
Shoot!
